I don't like the same kind of stuff (clothes, shopping, etc.) that other girls like...

Some girls like blue nail polish and disco music. Some girls don't like blue nail polish and disco music, but prefer skateboarding. It has nothing to do with being gay or straight.

Your interests have to do with who you are, what you like, the abilities you have, the opportunities you have been given to try new things, and the encouragement which you have received.

In many ways, our interests are influenced by our families. What do your parents like doing? What is talked about in your family? What kinds of books and magazines, hobbies and careers are there in your house? Perhaps one of your parents works in a technical field and has encouraged you to think and to ask questions. Maybe your mom doesn't live with you and so you never had someone who gave you advice about clothing, makeup and so on. Maybe your father spent more time with you than most fathers spend with their daughters.

It's 100% OK to like things other than clothing, shopping and such stuff. No one should call you names because of your interests. When you get older, you'll see that people have a wide range of interests. If you go to college or university, you'll see many different girls studying many different things. Right now that might not seem to be the case. Society puts a lot of pressure on teenage girls to look "perfect". This has nothing to do with how interesting you are as a person. Your skills and talents are important and special. Who you are is important and special. Very few people become successful models. Women are needed far more as doctors, managers, artists, social workers, mothers, engineers... your opportunities are unlimited!
